Greetings to all our Drivers, Family, Friends, and Supporters of this Ministry.
A new season is arriving. Spring is upon us and soon we will be celebrating Easter: the death and resurrection of our Savior, Jesus Christ. A time of celebration and worshipping our Lord for all that he has given us. All things are new, the old things have passed away. We are looking to the future and are excited for all the new things that God has planned for this trucking ministry. I am excited to share with you two projects and two events that are planned for this ministry.
We want all the drivers who stop in to experience God’s love in action by what we have to offer them. Good clean showers and bathrooms, nice laundry facilities, good food, and Godly conversations. Due to the increase of drivers we are currently having, and the anticipation of drivers coming in the future, the ACT board members have approved the remodeling project of the bathroom/shower/laundry area of the truckers lounge to include two more bathrooms with showers. This includes a new 100 gallon water heater. The project begins this next Monday, March 6, 2017, and will take approximately 1 month to complete. The total cost of the project is $18,000. We have $15,000 committed to the project at this point, and are looking for donations of $3000 to cover the rest of the money that is needed as well as donations of two new stackable washer/dryers to replace the one side by side set we now have for the drivers to use.
The other project we are currently working on, is rewiring the baptismal tank so the pump can be used for heating water. The wiring needs to be changed to 220v, and reworking some plumbing issues with it. The electrician has been working on the project, but had some medical problems come up, so it’s not completed yet. The total cost is expected to be $800. You might be asking why this project is so important to be completed. We have drivers come in and accept Jesus as their Personal Savior, and we want to have the baptism ready if they want to make that next step of commitment right away. Not all drivers have a church to go home to for the baptism, and we feel that this is another way we can solidify their commitment to God and prepare them for the plan that God has for them.
We are pleased to announce that our ministry will be represented at the Mid America Truck Show in Louisville, TN! March 23-26. Chaplain Clyde Searfoss and Pastor Mark Hewett will be manning the booth. If you have plans to attend the show, please say hello to them and pick up information regarding our ministry. They will be available for counseling and prayer as well. This is a great opportunity for all the country’s drivers attending the show to find out about our ministry. We are still looking for funding. We are needing to cover the gas, motel and meals that Clyde and Mark will need while there. We are expecting the cost to be close to $2000.
Our Spring Truckers Jamboree is scheduled for May 31-June 3, 2017. Mark your calendar now. We are starting on Wednesday noon and going thru Saturday noon this time to see if it allows more drivers a chance to join us. It also allows all who attend to get home to their church on Sunday. We are looking for speakers and singers to fill in day time spots and volunteers to help with kitchen duty and upkeep of the building. Please pray and consider what God would want you to do, and make plans now to attend the jamboree. Contact me at either 618-704-4366 or 618-427-3737 if you would like to be put on the schedule.
There is a lot happening here at ACT. We covet your prayers for this ministry and also for what your commitment to this ministry should be. Please ask God to reveal to you what your part should be in meeting the needs we have here. We are so excited to see this ministry growing and meeting the needs of all the drivers who us I-70 for their travels. Please help in any way you can.
We have memberships to the association available now for an annual fee of $40.00. Drivers, my prayer for you, is the prayer that Paul prayed for the church of the Thessalonians in I Thessalonians 5:23-24 “Now may the God of peace Himself sanctify you completely; and may your whole spirit, soul, and body be preserved blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. He who calls you is faithful, who also will do it.” It is HIS calling that we stand in and it’s HIS strength that we continue to be held up with. His guidance is accomplished by the Holy Spirit who He lavished on us as a gift which we didn’t earn. So, go in in the strength of HIS calling knowing He will accomplish HIS work in you.
May God bless you and keep you until we meet again!
In HIS service,
Chaplain Dock Hinman
