We are excited about what Jesus
is doing in the world today!

Greetings to all of you!

We have so much to be grateful for. It says in God’s word in Philippians 4:8 to think on things that are true, honest, just, pure, lovely, and of good report. When we are in that state of mind, it is easy to be grateful for all the things God has bestowed upon us.

The long hot days of summer are upon us. We have been in a heat advisory due to the high humidity and temp levels for several days now. Cold popsicles are in demand. Working outside is at a minimum during the heat of the day. Drivers are very grateful for a place to rest and relax. We provided a room and meals to a driver (and his very large Great Dane dog) for two days when his transmission went out on his truck and had to wait for servicing. We make sure all drivers are offered cold water to take with them. The long hot days of summer can also make one less motivated to work, so we have to remind ourselves to stay on track with our calling to the ministry.

ACT was represented at the I-80 truckers jamboree in Walcott Iowa held July 14-16. We were in booth #80. Pastor Mark Hewett, from Sioux Falls SD, was our representative for the event. Here is a quote from one of his updates:

“Day two of the Iowa 80 truck stop trucker’s jamboree! Drivers stop by and see me at booth 80 in the big tent. We had a good day yesterday. Gave many Bibles away, info on the ministry and best of all, I got to pray with many people. Some were in tears as we prayed for them and others. One driver was crying when he realized what we do for drivers. He said he felt so alone as a Christian out on the road. When I told him he could be a member of ACT and join a group of drivers to preach the gospel to all on the road he was excited. God is doing so much!! Praise His Holy Name!”

We were very excited about the amount of people who stopped and picked up literature at the show. We are praying for more doors to open for us to be at other truck trade shows this next year. One of the shows we plan to be at is the Dallas Truck Show in August. Once again, Pastor Mark Hewett will be representing ACT.

Truckers Friends Network out of Byron Center Michigan, has been supplying us with cases of Bibles to distribute. These are available for drivers to give away as a way of witnessing to other drivers. One driver uses them in what he calls his “Fuel Pump” ministry. He hands out Bibles to drivers when he is fueling up his truck. If this is something you are interested in, let us know. We will help supply you with Bibles.

We have just finished up a video series on Sunday nights called The Bait of Satan by John Bevere. We were also going over the workbook at our Thursday night Bible study. One thing this series taught us is how offenses are going to happen no matter what (Luke 17:1), and we need to know how to handle the offense and learn how to ask for forgiveness if we are the ones doing the offending, and also releasing people who have offended thru reconciliation. The series has opened our eyes to several things that needed to be changed so that we are able to discern correctly when people come to us for advice.

Mary has been keeping track of the driver sign in sheets and I wanted to share it with you so you can see the increase of drivers we have helped and shared with for the past three years, for the January – June months.

Month/ Year

We have a good selection of t-shirts and polo shirts available for purchase and we are waiting for the order of baseball caps with ACT logo on them to arrive. The caps are a light weight cotton twill with a velcro closure back. Navy Blue in color with our colored logo on it.

Driver Chris Brown: Wife Shirley died this past month of cancer.

Supporter Carol Korby: Severe shoulder pain and heart problems.

Chaplain Steve Haile: Healing of broken foot and other health issues.

Healing of broken relationships of several drivers who have stopped in.

The fall Truckers Jamboree is scheduled for October 6- 9, 2016. We are still looking for drivers who would like to share their testimony or have a talent in singing or playing an instrument. If you would like to schedule a time to share, give me a call. Jerry Fudge, a driver from Missouri, is one of the drivers that will be sharing about his ministry.

Thank you for your continued prayers and support for this ministry. If you ever have any questions about this ministry, I’ll be glad to answer them. Just give me a call.

Chaplain Dock Hinman
